Placement Testing
Placement testing is completed by taking the TABE assessment. Students should make a testing appointment in advance to be able to test.
Results from this assessment will help identify your academic strengths and needs in Reading, Writing, and Math. Based on the results, you will be placed in courses appropriate for your skill level, ensuring a successful beginning in your classes and college career. While this assessment is important, TABE is not a pass or fail, so relax, take a deep breath and do your best!
Test Cost
There is no charge for Admissions Testing.

Program Enrollment
To enroll in a UBATC program, students must meet designated admissions testing requirements. The UBATC uses the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE). These are used to evaluate your skill levels and the aptitudes needed to be successful in your program and the workforce.
In most cases, students who need assistance with these skills can be enrolled in Basic Skills classes before starting their training program.
You may be tested on:
- Reading: Vocabulary and reading comprehension.
- English: Spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, etc.
- Math: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and decimals.

To find out which tests are required for the program you are interested in, go to the Admissions Requirements on the program web page.
