UBTech’s Intercampus Contest Sharpen Skills By, Stephanie Carter & Lezlee Whiting UBTech recently held a regional SkillsUSA Competition at the Vernal campus. Students from both campuses competed against each other to hone skills they have learned in their respective Automotive, Welding, and Carpentry programs. Local industry also participated in these competitions by assisting as judges and donating prizes. Welding students competed as individuals in beginning and advanced divisions. Automotive students went head-to-head and Carpentry students competed in two-man teams which included both secondary and adult students. Snows honored as Champions of Education by UBTech By, Lezlee Whiting Three members of the Snow family were honored at a banquet hosted recently by Uintah Basin Technical College as Champions of Education. The patriarch of the family, Alva Crosby Snow was honored posthumously for the integral role he played in helping to plant the roots of higher education 50 years ago in Roosevelt. Student Inspires Roofing World to Partner with UBTech Written by, Stephanie Carter & Lezlee Whiting Last year Masen Holmes enrolled in UBTech’s Carpentry Program, he was in his freshman year at Uintah High School. “I want to have a career in the construction industry,” Holmes said. “Either as a general contractor, electrician, or maybe even an electrical engineer.
