The Nursing Assistant Program prepares graduates to assist Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in giving total bedside care to the sick and elderly in long-term care facilities. Students will learn patient care and procedures, medical law and ethics, patient/staff/environmental safety, infection control, CPR, anatomy and physiology, common medical disorders, and appropriate interventions. Students will also learn to take and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Graduates will be prepared to take the state CNA test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. The Nursing Assistant program prepares students for an entry-level healthcare position that is in high demand nationwide.

Graduates of the Nursing Assistant Program will be prepared for employment in many health aide areas, including hospitals, private homes, long-term care facilities, and home health organizations.

CNA Skills and Written Testing is available at Uintah Basin Technical College.

In order to schedule a Skills Appointment, you need to log in to your student portal using your assigned username and password. If you do not have a username and password or have forgotten it, you will need to contact the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) Office who can help you access this. Their phone number is 801-547-9947. Skills exams must be pre-scheduled through the TMU system.

The Written Exam is available at both campuses with a scheduled appointment.
For the Roosevelt Campus call Amber at 435.722.6914.
For the Vernal Campus call Jim at 435.725.7103.

The exam is on a computer and consists of 75 multiple choice questions. You have up to two hours to complete the exam. Most students complete it within one hour. Tests results are available after 6 p.m. that evening.

For the Skills Exam, please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. If you are late or cancel within 24 hours of your testing time, you will be charged a “No Show” fee. Wear scrubs and bring a watch with a second hand. The test lasts approximately 45 minutes and you will receive your results with 48 hours of testing.
