The Welding Program allows students to enter welding classes at their level of expertise and learn the skills necessary to obtain one of two possible certifications. Students will learn basic oxygen acetylene welding, oxygen acetylene cutting, and beginning arc welding in the beginning course. In the Welding Technology course students have the opportunity to become skilled in shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding. Skills also include drawing and welding symbol interpretation, air carbon arc cutting, plasma arc cutting, gas metal arc welding pulsed aluminum, and pipe welding. All courses are taught using American Welding Society (AWS) standards and procedures. Graduates of the program will become skilled in many of the welding techniques necessary for entry-level or skilled jobs in welding.

INTERMEDIATE TECHNICIAN:
This course is designed to give students an overview of the welding industry, including familiarization with welding machines and processes. Skills taught include basic acetylene welding, oxygen acetylene cutting, and beginning welding skills. Safety as related to the welding industry is particularly stressed. Graduates of this course will be prepared to seek entry-level employment in welding.

ADVANCED TECHNICIAN:
This specialized program is designed to prepare students for many AWS certifications, and will allow graduates to seek high-paying jobs in the welding industry. Students learn technical information and skills training in welding all positions on plate and pipe material. Graduates will develop skills in industrial welding, oxygen acetylene cutting, arc welding, mig welding, plasma cutting, TIG welding, and pipe welding. They will also choose to specialize in one of these areas.

*Based on $2 per credit hour
